Why use a Cloudflare Worker?
Understand why MakerWrite uses a Cloudflare Worker to serve your blog — and how it benefits you.
You might be wondering: why does MakerWrite need a Cloudflare Worker at all? Why not just point your domain directly to our servers?
The short answer: a Worker gives you better performance, full brand control, and zero infrastructure to manage — all on Cloudflare's free plan.
Your blog lives on your domain
Without a Worker, your blog would need to be hosted on a subdomain we control (like yourblog.makerwrite.com) or require complex DNS and server configurations on your end.
With a Worker, your blog is served directly from your own domain — for example, yourdomain.com/blog. Visitors never see a third-party URL. Search engines index your content under your domain. All backlinks point to you.
Faster page loads for every visitor
Traditional hosting serves content from one or a few server locations. If your server is in the US and a visitor is in Europe, they experience noticeable latency.
Cloudflare Workers run on 300+ edge locations worldwide. When someone visits your blog:
- The request is handled at the nearest Cloudflare data center
- The Worker fetches your blog content from MakerWrite
- The response is sent back over the shortest possible route
This means consistently fast page loads regardless of where your readers are located.
No servers to manage
With a Cloudflare Worker, there's nothing for you to maintain:
- No hosting to configure — no virtual machines, containers, or platforms to set up
- No updates to install — Cloudflare maintains the runtime
- No scaling to worry about — the Worker automatically handles traffic spikes (a viral blog post won't crash your site)
- No uptime monitoring needed — Cloudflare's network has built-in redundancy across all edge locations
Free for most blogs
Cloudflare's free plan includes 100,000 Worker requests per day. To put that in perspective:
- A blog post viewed 1,000 times per day uses about 1,000 requests
- You'd need roughly 100,000 page views per day to hit the limit
- If you do outgrow the free tier, Cloudflare's paid plan starts at $5/month for 10 million requests
For the vast majority of blogs, the free plan is more than enough.
Better SEO and credibility
Search engines prefer content served from your own domain over third-party subdomains. By using a Worker:
- All your blog content is indexed under
yourdomain.com - Link equity (SEO value from backlinks) stays on your domain
- Visitors trust content on your brand's domain more than a generic hosting URL
Automatic deployment
You don't need to write code or use any command-line tools. During the onboarding process, MakerWrite deploys the Worker to your Cloudflare account automatically — you just provide your Account ID and API Token, and we handle the rest.
